Beginners Guide To Meditation - Unlocking Negative Echoes.

I was prompted to share this by a friend who asked how you can meditate when you mind floods with negative thoughts and distractions.
I always teach that we can never completely empty the mind and so many first timers tire themselves into frustration trying to do just that!
When we start to relax into meditation our subconscious mind becomes active we turn the key and unlock our hidden or often suppressed thoughts and memories. Having a visual aid such as guided meditation helps to forge a pathway in which we walk but often your subconscious mind takes you off that path and then you become annoyed that you are in some way incapable of ever meditating or relaxing. You become frustrated and your body verifies this belief by becoming tense and fidgety. The trick is to follow some very simple steps: 1) start off with a simple visual aid take away the complication of a busy scenario. For example concentrate on your breathing in and out and feel the breath filtering through all of your muscles, veins and cells allowing any tension to fade away. Don't over breathe either you aren't trying to hold your breath for any specific time just allow your breathing to be natural in and out with ease. Whilst you become relaxed imagine a simple image of a white candle lit in the centre of your chest. See this candle emit white light that slowly floods outwards further and further until it floods your whole body and surrounds you in a protective bubble. That's it for the first meditation visual aid. 2) Don't shy away from any thoughts that come in. If at all during this simple exercise you find thoughts come filtering in do not try to push them away this will just allow your mind to focus only on that thought. If they are just a distraction such as a noise you have heard and it triggers your mind to think of that noise and where it came from then just allow the thoughts to float by like clouds in the sky. If however these thoughts have a negative notation. Clock It. So see what the negative thought is. Is it anger, fear, guilt, hate, sadness, grief etc. Then ask where did this feeling begin? Which scenario in your past created this feeling?
If you become distressed at any point take yourself out of the scenario and place yourself on a platform viewing the scene like a video feed. You are in a way protecting yourself from reliving any of the painful memories. Now ask is this feeling something that was caused by yourself or a situation put onto you? Or was this feeling placed into you from another person. Ask yourself are you dealing with their beliefs or your own? 3) Acknowledge it then thank it for its lessons and release it. If it's a belief of your own or even someone else's it's obviously time to let it go. This emotional code has been repeating over time and holding you back from being the very best you can be. Acknowledge it but then thank it for its lessons and ask for it to be lifted from you and released for it no longer serves you. See this emotion and any memories attached to it leaving your body as a coloured smoke (darker usually more intense and lighter colours less so) imagine this emotion entering a huge balloon of purity (whatever you believe be it God Angels or just energy this is represented by the balloon) it's now ready to be cleansed and feel it getting bigger and bigger as this emotion or feeling leaves your body. 4) Let it go. Allow this feeling to carry on as long as you feel necessary and once you are ready release the balloon upwards. High in the sky above is a huge needle. See the balloon lifting upwards towards this needle and then (POP) (helps if you clap your hands at this point to make It physical). See the balloon burst into glitter or a firework shower of light, again whatever feels right with you. Then imagine huge scissors cutting the balloons cord from your body. Freeing you from its connection to you.
5a) For more darker memories –
If the scenario was a physical attack to your body which created emotional upset that still echoes to your present day. Such as a personal attack from someone else, or an accident of some kind. Then before doing the balloon release imagine the scene as a movie playing in front of you. Instead of seeing it play as it did change the scene to a positive scenario. For example take the attack away from the situation. It didn’t happen instead imagine you are at the place of the event but that you avoided the attack somehow and maybe you can imagine you saying or doing something very different how you wished that event had happened. If a personal attack from a person originally occurred imagine that you and that person walk on by without a glance but that you are both happy and at peace and at ease. If it was an accident as such imagine you avoiding the situation that took you into danger in the first place. Then see everyone and involved originally as happily getting on with their day. Breathe in love and peace and breathe out any emotions that were set in replay from the past. So although we can’t change the past we CAN change the emotions that were imprinted on the minds record as repeating echoes. You are in effect re-writing your own life’s script. Then proceed to the balloon release exercise. 5b) Repeat. Repeat these processes with either the same emotion until you feel free from It, Or with any other emotions that come up during your relaxation.
6) Once completed return your mind back to the simple visual meditation you started with. Allow yourself to bathe in the beautiful white light emitting from your centre candle. Imagine your energy grounding through your feet like roots of a tree firmly rooting you in the ground. When you are ready start to become aware of your surroundings and slowly open your eyes. If you are unsure where this feeling comes from and can't explain it some say it could possibly be from a previous life (again depends on your beliefs). If this is the case you can still do this exercise but it may be worth having past life regressive hypnotherapy to help release this. Wherever the feelings stem from it is so important to do this exercise as it will help release suppressed negativity which in time will release your mind to then wonder through more intricate meditations. Others such as re-connecting to your higher-self or what's also known as soul retrieval.
